SLT's Summer Theatre Drama Camp

We are pleased to be able to facilitate having Acting Outright provide a summer camp for children interested in theatre.
July 21, 2017 to July 21, 2017
Linda McRae, actor, director, writer and teacher with over 20 years of experience will head up Theatre Peeps Summer Drama Camp for 6 to 12 year olds. The program will include the participants becoming familiar with the basics of theatre etiquette, expectations and rules of community theatre.
They will expand their creativity, imagination, confidence and self esteem through free expression with the use of costumes, hats, props, role play, improvisation, mime, mask making and dialogue scripts.
Time: 10:00 to 3:00pm
Summary of Activities:
Monday: “Game On”
Introduction to theatre with theatre and improv games utilizing costumes, hats, props and role play
Utilize imagination and creativity in pairs and teams while learning about improv. Play improv and theatre games like ‘Freeze Tag’, ‘Goalie’, ‘iWordball’, ‘Press Conference’ and of course; ‘Bus Stop’,
Wednesday: “Your Guess is as Good as Mime”
Use body language, facial expressions and gestures to tell humorous stories without words. Learn to apply Mime face makeup. Learn the Doctor’s Office Skit
Thursday: “Mask-arade Day”
Create a detailed African Tribal Mask, or animal mask with feathers, wool and/or fabric, or a fancy Mardi-Gras mask. End the day with “Doctor’s Office” Skit
Friday: “Bring it In”
Play all the favorite theatre games and activities of the week, rehearse the skit and then perform “Doctor’s Office” for the family in the last 40 minutes of the session.
